So far, I've only found two companies that make bull bars for '98+ Troopers.
ARB has one that goes in the mid to high 600s usually.
TJM Makes a sweet one, but I've never found pricing for it.

Along with all of the other body amor, I'll be fabbbing al of my own winch/pushbar, rocker bars, and bumpers and maybe tail-light covers this spring sometime. Well...I was planning on making them sooner, but im waiting till i will get all the metal for free from my school. I had trouble finding bumpers/anything that was made the way i wanted it made. good luck finding good deals. ......

www.jaosusa.com/products/bullbar/ Makes bull bars for Troopers also, but I can't find a price on them tho. Seems to be the only place that has them in chrome?? Is that right?

Actually, that's referred to commonly as a grille guard or a brush guard. If you're looking for one in black, there's a lot cheaper one made by Wildcat Flash available at www.everythingoffroad.com/, and it's removeable!

WARNING: don't use grille guards or bull bars as a tow hook point. I was out on a local trail(no name) off of Cullignan Park, and found a BADLY stuck 2003 Expedition(2wd). The driver was mad because it was his mom's car, and he was going to be in soo much trouble. I offered him a tow(he thought it wouldn't work because my trooper is so "small") so I got on partially dry ground, in front of the mud hole the expedition was in, and hooked up my end of my tow strap to my hitch. I tossed him the other end, and told him to hook it up to the front tow hook, or if neccesary, to the FRAME. He dug around in the mud, and could not get to the tow hook, nor even under the bumper. So, he hooked it to the nice shiney chrome grille guard, i told him that It would probably be ripped off, or bent, but he insisited it would help pull. I put it in 4WL, and sarted to stretch the strap alittle, as I moved forward. One of his Pal's was signalling me to come forward, I did as I was signaled to do, and all of the sudden my trooper moved forwrd, i figured "maybe it worked, i got him unstuck". My rear veiw mirror said differently. The chraome grille guard was now burried in the mud. It was not broken off, but bent all of the way forward, and looked as if it had hinges that allowed it to bend forward like a tail gate. I ended up pulling this guy out from behind, where he was able to find a tow hook. After he was out, His friends were making up stories to tell his mom. They told me, they planned to wash the car, and remove the grille guard, say it was stolen. Moral of this story, is not to tell the truth, but not to go 4 wheelin w/o walking the trail, and never to use a grille guard as a tow point.

the JAOS products, all of them, are so expensive I cannot imagine they move any of their products out the door. They are flashy but w/ that much money i would even be scared to find out if they were any bit stout. I can give a referral for the guy who welded up my safari rack/basket - also know of another gentleman who can fab up some stuff for isuzus - www.stinkyfab.com ... i've contacted him about making me a pushbar but i had to sink the money for that idea into other things...

Hey guys the ARB is nice, but heavy.
In fact I have one for sale if interested, I had it on my 99 for about 5 months. I took it off because I have decided not to get a winch, and so would like something lighter up front. It is the 070 model which fits Troopers with the factory plastic fender flares.

erstrooper I have the ARB model on my trooper and like the looks and fit. No problem mounting it ( didn't have to bend, bang, cut or change anything ).

Imagine a titanium bumper...sweet. light, very strong, and I think rust proof.

I've been to ARB's website and looked all over. What is the difference between their pushbars as applied to the Trooper? I've heard the term "070" and some other number thrown around, but am lost as to what the differences are. Also, I've seen a photo of a DOR bumper that has shackles on it, but no winch point and no brushguards. Unfortunately, I can't find THAT on DOR's website, either. So, is my browser selectively busted, am I blind, or am I just looking in the wrong place? HELP!

I've heard the term "070" and some other number thrown around, but am lost as to what the differences are. There are two slightly different ARB Bullbars for 2nd generation (92+) Troopers. The part numbers end in either 060 or 070, I forget the first part of the part number but it is the same for both. AFAIK the only significant difference is how wide the side wrap-around is. The 070 model is wider to match up with the plastic fender flares the newer Troopers have. An 060 will fit a newer Trooper, but the "look" isn't quite as integrated, for what that is worth.

If you have any questions about DOR stuff, I encourage you to call them. Joe Darlington is a great guy, very helpful, and probably does all kinds of stuff not on his website. Having said that, I seem to have heard very recently that Joe is moving lock, stock and barrel from Idaho to North Carolina, so he may be a little tied up with that.

Okay. I'd go for the wider ones, because despite the mods I'd like to make, this thing is still going to be my daily driver.
One thing I've noticed about the ARB bars is that on some, the brush guards protecting the lights and upper radiator are complete loops, where as others the are only half-loops welded onto the bumper. I prefer the latter. I'm only doing research at this point, but I want to be able to be certain of what I'm looking at.
I, too, recently read that DOR is moving to NC. I sent them an e-mail today asking about their bumpers. Anyone have a pic of theirs on a Trooper?
Thanks for the info! Ignorant newbie here! ;D
