WARNING: don't use grille guards or bull bars as a tow hook point. Funny story! Bet the kid caught hell! You know how moms know EVERYTHING! Anyway, I'm curious about your statement above as applied to bull bars. Both ARB and DOR bars have shackles on the bumper portion of the bar. Am I understanding you correctly in that these are not good tow points either, or are you just refering to the brush guard portion and it's equivalents?

I am just referring to the brush-guards or add-ons to the bumper. If you replace the bumper with a DOR or ARB, the shackles are for towing, or double as a second end for a hammoc(HaaHaa). tie one side to your friend's rig, one to yours, now, with no trees, a hammoc appears. I believe Bull bars are just add-ons that are like the brush-guards, bolted on from behind the bumper, near the front skid-plate.

I believe Bull bars are just add-ons that are like the brush-guards, bolted on from behind the bumper, near the front skid-plate. Bull Bar generally refers to a complete relpacment bumper like the DOR or ARB units. The Brush/Grill guards and push bars are the add-on types.

I realize that. my cousin has a bull-bar on his ford, its a complete bumper, used to ward off cattle at a his ranch. Thanks for claifying that.

The link to the wire with the hudsons ARB post - is the top post of the hunter green SLX the one that is mismatched? It looks like it isn't off by much if it is.

Yeah I think so. Like I said, not that big a difference between the 060 and 070.

Depends on what you wanna do with it. If you are going to get into off-roading, and maybe get a winch, then an ARB bullbar is probably your best bet...not many other choices really. If you just want to get the off road "look", I would think twice...a bullbar is heavy and bulky, even without a winch. I took mine off my 99 cause I didn't like all that weight up there, and the improvement in approach angle wasn't enough to compensate IMO. I was thinking about trimming the stock bumper plastic back in front of the wheels for more approach clearance, but then my Trooper got wrecked so it became moot.
