Anyone know how big of tires I can put on my stock 16x7 rims without worrying about clearance adn rubbing? Recommendations? Moderate off road usage.

I've run 285/70/16 BFG ATs on my stock 95 rims for the past several years. Prior to a slight lift they would rub slightly when bottoming out hard from time to time, but no serious clearance problems. Since the lift, no problems at all. Don't know if anyone has gone bigger or not.

I have 265/75/r16 on my 93 trooper. No rubbing, but I have not flexed up 100%(enough to be on 3 wheels). So far, so good. i got them at discount tire, $68 a pop, plus installation. I got the ones that had "blemishes" only noticeable with a magnifying glass, but armor all fixed it. i still got the 40,000 mile warranty. Free flat fixing, replacement withing the 1st year, rotation, so on..... BFG A/Ts for $68 each, my luck of the years, since im a stoodant and have limited resources.

I have run 265/75s on my stock wheels for several years now, no rubbing ever (I have the OME coils though). I know some people are running 285/75s.

Adrian
I have seen a late model Trooper at the Naval Yard for the last 2 years wearing a set of 235/85/16's. Don't remember brand though. Theres only about 0.1mm difference in diameter between a 265/75/16 and a 235/85/16.

I'm runninig 285/75R16's 0n my stock '93 rims. Only rub at full steering lock. Hey JDAWG, did you have any problems mounting 70's on your 16x7 rims? Everywhere I look, they say you need at least 16x8's or it can be dangerous.
