Does your Trooper have a diesel kind of sound? Mine does, and I went digging for answers. Our 6VE1 brethren over at VehiCross.org have the solution. Diesel Sound Fix

Is this post in reference to the supposed "valve/lifter-tick" that can be helped with an oil change?
I've got the tick sound sort of like a diesel and have used mobil 1 synthetic for a while, w/ no help and just money wasted on expensive oil.
Any idea if those pics of the engine on the vx site would be similar in parts placement on a 95 trooper engine (3.2 sohc)? I'm definately going to have to try this but messing with the pcv/egr is a new ball game for me.

I have a 95 Trooper that has that diesel sound. I appreciate the info but I do not have a PCV filter with this year. The engine sounds like it has a ticking that is constant and speeds up uniformly when the accelerator is increased. Is this a rod issue, or possibly belts? The belts look great and I have changed the oil, as well as done everything prescribed in the previous threads. HELP! Also, is there a car repair manual available anywhere?

I believe I have a similar problem and tried to follow the link you pasted but it must be an old link and is no longer valid. Can you tell me briefly what the fix is?
