found out i can get this stuff at O'reily's.
I'm there tomorrow. My lifters are pretty much just loud. not so bad when your in the car, though still very noticeable, but if you are driving around with the windows down, the sound echoes off walls and buildings really loud.
I have tried the recommended 0w-30 mobil 1 oil, changed timing belts, ran engine de-gunkers, etc, nothing has helped that valve lifter noise.
I'm giving this stuff a shot tomorrow. I'll post up impressions.

Just pretend you have a diesel Sea Foam is distributed by a company about a mile from my house...good stuff, been around forever. I put it in the gas tank periodically, seems to help smooth the engine out a little.

Heres the deal. i got a can of sea foam, put in about 40-50% of the can in the crankcase (had been told 1/3 of the can was enough). started it up... tick tick tick tick.. begin driving, sound "adjusts" about 2 times, lowering in volume, driving for about 1 min. now, sound is NEARLY gone from inside the cab, not noticeable unless you are listening for it. Roll down the windows, it is (as usual) a little louder outside, but not as loud as before i put the stuff in.
Drove it about 40 miles that day, next day, the tick is back. I've got 10w-30 dino oil, its fresh oil but i'm sure my internals are pretty dirty. I'm not writing off the sea foam or anything, i think maybe it quieted down the noise but loosened up crap that got restuck...or something... i dunno, but if it worked initially that is cool, i'm gonna save the rest of the can and put it in the day i change my oil next. seems like it would be good to add before and after an oil change maybe. oh well.

Sorry that it didn't work out for you. It made a world of difference on my trooper though. I added it when i changed my oil, maybe that did something. i too used to use mobil 1 synthetic 0w-30w oil. Now i use 10-30, and with the sea foam, no ticking at all. Time has all to tell. If the ticking comes back, more sea foam goes in. Good luck making the tick go away......
