I just purchased a 93 Trooper LS with high miles. It has 275000 kms. Is there anything I should worry about with this high mileage? Is there any usual maintenance things to do to my engine like timing belt, spark plugs, wires etc? If anybody has some suggestions please let me know. I really like my purchase and hope it goes well. My page is members.cardomain.com/bilzner check it out. thanks for any suggestions..

Check the oil all the time. 3.2 and 3.5 Troopers are notorious for using a quart or two every thousand miles or so. Mine does, and I've only got a touch over 60k on the clock.

Thanks. The "check engine" light comes on periodically and I don't know exactly what I should do. Should I go to the isuzu dealership to get them to run a check on this? My 3.2 DOHC has alot of power and runs smoothly, I am not too alarmed because of this though. Also it seems to have a very very slight flutter of rpm's when I put the vehicle into park after a long drive. could this be the timing? anyone have this problem too? Thanks alot for any reply. I am a first time Trooper owner..

One thing you might try is to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes. That should be enough time for the computer to reset itself. It will act a little different while its relearning how you drive, but it might make enough of a different with regard to fuel type and how it's running to make a difference in the idle. actually the 3.5's are notorious for that not the 3.2s or 3.2 dohc the 3.5's go through engines non stop because people dont check the oil often and ya you get the idea i see em come and go all the time at my work. the 3.2's start to tap after 60k it doesnt really hurt anything but it is annoying and the 3.2 dohc is an amazing engine runs for ever. now this is gonna sound stupid but lots of people do it when the check engine light comes on next time take the gas cap off and put it back on get minimum of 3 clicks

If you don't have a record of maintenance, I would go ahead and have the timing belt changed. TO EVERYBODY: Have your tension idlers on your timing belt checked. Just yesterday I had to put my trooper in the shop because we think the bearings in the idler pulleys on the timing belt have worn out the bearings. The truck sounded like a helicopter until 2500 RPM. My mechanic said that it was pretty common for the pulleys to need to be replaced. At least I HOPE that is all that is wrong. If not I will be fixing it and SELLING the truck as soon as possible. One transmission, alternator, varnish-soated valves, and major engine trouble is about all I can handle!
I hope it's nothing more though, cause I would probably jus tby another trooper anyway.
My check engine light had been on for about 8 months now and the senor tripping it is called a "G-Sensor" which the guy at the dealership says is not a life threatening thing. I think his exact qoute was: "You could fix it, it won't take much. Or you could just put tape over the light if it bothers you."
I have fixed it.
The G-Sensor is under the interior console.
