I have a 93 3.2 DOHC v6 with around 170,000 with a 5 speed, and when under acceleration I get a slight rattling noise from the engine. It is not a rod knocking. Also, the noise does not vary with engine rpm either. Sometimes I also get another knocking noise upon startup, this seems to only occur when I either have too much or not enough oil. Has anyone else experienced this and what can be done about it?

More than likely, the noise (if it is a ticking sound) is coming from the hydraulic valve train. Varnish builds up on the hydraulic adjusters and causes them to tick. Isuzu claims that the tick is caused from letting the engine go over 3k miles before oil changes. But I would keep an eye on it. It turns out my ticking was the idler puleys on the timing belt and I let it go too long and it really cost me ($500) to get it fixed when they went completely down.

I have a 3.2 dohc too and it gave me that ticking/knocking sound also. What I did was went to the local isuzu dealership and told them about it. They suggested trying a product called Wynn's which frees sticky lifters, it's only like 5 bucks canadian (if your from canada). They also suggested using Tech200010w30 oil which you can buy at Walmart. Apparently this oil is awesome for the 3.2 which they use on their troops. They also suggested using NGK plugs too. Heres what I did: I bought the Wynn's(@canadiantire) added it, (it got rid of the noise), then I changed the oil and used another can of the stuff. I then changed the plugs and wires because it's a very high miled engine(277000kms). I also installed a open air cone(cheapo)air filter. The noise is gone and I got lots of power out of the plug/wire change. it seems to run alot smoother and very quiet. the airfilter makes it sound deep too. which is cool.. I hope this helps you too...

Weird, you two have the same pic on your posts. confused me wen you said "I have a 3.2L DOHC too". Anyways, Im gonna try and fint this Wynn's stuff. And as for the NGK...the best for isuzu(watch out for bosch platinum, they have been said to possiblt detonate in your engine).
