Hey all. I'm new to this board, but I'm glad there are still some Trooper enthusiasts out there. I recently had to get rid of my old '87 But I'm now a proud owner of a 3.2l '97 Trooper. I've found this particular year doesn't seem to have all the upgrade options others do. I"m particularly interested in a good intake... since it's cheap and eay to install. I've found 3, any opinions on these: 1) That EBay guy. Seems a little shady to me, but he's got hundreds of glowing reviews. Anyone installed one of these before? Comments? 2) Pilot 3) APC 4) Arospeed 2 and 3 can be found here: www.team-performance.com/partssearch2.cfm?searchquery=Trooper&keywordtype=Vehicle&cat=Intake&vehiclemake=Isuzu4 here: www.slickcar.com/searchresults.asp?Search=trooperI'm thinking of eventually getting a Calmini cat-back exhaust system. How do they sound, anyone installed one b4? Also heard Jacobs Electronics makes an ignition kit for Isuzus. ? I'm the only person i know with a Trooper, so I've found the internet to be my only source of information on Isuzu Performance. So any comment y'all have are appreciated.

I would think that a K&N filter would be the easiest to install. Also, if you ever go for a snorkel, you will already still have the stock set-up, which is required. Hmm...Also, with K&N, you just clean your filter with a "filer recharge" kit, and your good to go. I went with the K&N because I drive though alot of dirty, sandy areas(being by the gulf of mexico), and don't want to be replacing my filter every 2 months(literally). Also, if you go for a kit in which it has the chrom intake tube, going to a cone filter, you will need to make a airbox to draw only the cool air away from the engine. I would go with either K&N, or KOOL BLUE(if they even offer a filter for troopers). Good luck........joseph

Thanks for the advice Joseph. I put a K&N Filter in my old trooper, but I was hoping with the new one to put something more powerful. K&N's application guide unfortunately doesn't have an intake kit like (like their typhoon) for Troopers.

One thing that you might wanna do is upgrade the intake first. Im just saying this because a bud of mine has a Rodeo and its got dual exhaust but the stock intake, and it made only 1 hp gain(he dynoed it). after the new intake(he fabbed it up from the conical for a 4.3L) hes got 12hp more. I just think of it this way, you can only poop how much yopu eat(you can only exhale how much you inhale). One thing is that to some people, backpressure is confusing.

LOL @ "you can only poop how much you eat"
Seriously, that is Shakespeare quality.
the ebay guys auction basically admits its a cheap filter. I'd go ahead and get a reusable k&n cone filter and attach that sucker with some cheap clamps
like isuzu rs said, exhaust won't do much without opening up the intake first, so thats like a good move or something. i have a k&n drop in - i got better gas mileage but no power gains. some have reported small power gains with the conical filter.

I went with the K&N drop-in also, when i first got the trooper. i had not driven it much, so i just feel it as the same performance, but atleast its breathing healthily. LOL, giving thr Troop personifications.
