not really. w/ 33's and 1.5" of lift. after cranking up the front more, flipping ball joints, and 1" rear coil spacers. shadow makes the tires look smaller than actual in that last pic. 33's are nice. Next set I plan on trying to fit 34" super swampers. Not sure how yet, but i dont have the balls to cut up the wheelwells to fit 35's.

for ride height comparisons i'm next to a hyundai santa fe in the first pic, and my old civic in another pic. bad comparison pics but maybe you get the idea. In the dark "after pic" the front is lifted ~3.25" -- the back is raised ~2.5" or so, first time i cranked up the front it settled between 1/2" to 1" so i over did it, settled to about 3" exactly this time. alignment done within 1 week, which was enough time to notice slight tire wear on the outside edges of front tires all good now.

With input from BuckHunt, who's running 285/75-16 tires, I'm going to go with 32x9.50x15 Swamper TSLs. They're just over a hundred bux apiece at 4x4land.com, and they measure out to right about the same as a 285/75-16. If anyone else is interested in doing this, and keeping their street tires, Mike at 4x4land.com says he has a BUNCH of used but good steel Toyota 15x7" wheels he just wants to get rid of. So, I'm going to get the tires, have him mount them on the Toy wheels, and just rattle can 'em when I get home. What do I care? I wanted black wheels, now I don't have to come up with another $159 for a set. Groovy. Man, those pics are a little green, though.... Gotta get some new action shots!!

ERStrooper - are you positive those toyota rims will fit directly on to your trooper? I'm not very knowledgable about wheels but i have read that a good amount of other make wheels wont fit our troopers. the pics are bad because i was using a polaroid camera older than george burns.
DNA69 - I can look up the color codes, if you can point me in their direction ... is it by chance on the sticker inside the door or the options plate in the engine area?

BTW ERSTtrooper - 33's looked good slammed up under the 1.5" of lift i had... i 'm not a big fan of having a lot of space between top of wheelwell and top of tire, makes the tires looks smaller when its like that.
32's w/ no lift should look very nice!

The toyota bolt pattern's 6x5.5 just like a Trooper's. The key is to make sure that the center bore is at least 4.25". Lots of aftermarket wheels that fit GM products won't fit Isuzu vehicles because of that.
But, most import six-lug vehicle wheels will fit.
I'd love to run 33"s. But, I'm going to need enough lift and flex to make clearing them worthwhile.
Meantime, my 31" LTBs are awesome for my stock height Troop.

w/ 33's and 1.5" of lift. Just how much added off-road ability does that 1.5" of lift give you? I very much like the look, and don't think I'd go any higher than 2 inches, but when I see what ERS's rig can do while STOCK, it makes me wonder if I should lift at all, or just settle for slightly wider tires.

Luis, you're killing me. ;D Lifting my trooper was never about looks. It's just about being able to clear obstacles, and more importantly, to do it without breaking anything. I don't know of anyone on this board who wishes to spend any more money on replacing broken parts than they have to. I know I sure don't. Anywho. 2" of lift improves three things, among others: Approach angle, breakover angle, and departure angle. The higher you go, the less likely you are to hang up on stuff. The problem with just upsizing tires is there's no way to clear them after you go too big. Suspension lift and body lifts, have no effect, however, on axle clearance. That's where tires come in, yet again. THe taller your tire is, the higher off of the ground your axle sits, by half.
